The emerging role of simulation in teaching sinus surgery - ESMED

Philip Chen, University of Texas Health at San Antonio Endoscopic sinus surgery is a commonly performed surgery, but learning to operate in a confined space with variable anatomy in a 2-dimensional view can be challenging. Simulation is being increasingly used to teach various types of surgery including endoscopic sinus surgery. Goals of simulation include faster learning in a safe environment. However, creation of valid models is challenging and an area for growth.
